I guess he thinks that being Christian means letting thousands of Iraqis suffer and die under tyranny every year instead of stopping it.
Perhaps hawkish Christians misread Matthew 10:34? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/But_to_bring_a_sword
Or perhaps they base their notion of just war on Scriptures outside of the Gospel? I don't know where John is coming from. It was obvious from the war in Afghanistan that invading a country four times as populous would create more death and suffering than it would prevent.
