WTF: Demand for Duke lacrosse gear soars (ESPN)


In the wake of publicity generated by the sexual assault scandal surrounding the Duke men's lacrosse team, sales of merchandise bearing the "Duke lacrosse" name and logo have skyrocketed.

I thought that sales increases are kind of typical. Didn't jersey sales for Ron Artest go up after the brawl in Auburn Hills? Or for Ray Lewis after his trial in Atlanta? I think Kobe Bryant's went down with his trial in Colorado, but I think that was an exception rather than the rule. Of course, Pat Tillman jersey sales went through the roof after his untimely death in Afghanistan in April of 2k4.
