Only posting because I promised...
I'm not sure what I think of this one-a-day thing. I feel that in our society people often like to talk too much but are bad listeners. I struggle with this a lot. I wonder how much of blogging is people talking without having a conversation since we're more interested in saying what we have to say than reading what others have to say. And the pressure to post often--to have something to say--makes it worse. For Rulablog it's been a while since I've had/taken the time to read some of the other Latin American politics blogs and see what they have to say. So it's like there's this isolation even though it's supposed to the the web. As I write this it's reminding me of my reflections about how the debate team shaped people's communication styles, but that's a topic for some other time. I'm going to eat.

thanks for the reminder; lately I think I've been doing all the talking and not much listening as well.

I see NaBloPoMo from the opposite perspective. I'm using the list as an opportunity to visit as many as possible and "listen" to some new voices.

Yes, it IS the web.
I was playing around on last.fm, looking at my "weekly neighbours" list and it led me to your blog.
I just thought I would say something to let you know you've been read - even if briefly.
But is see tht you write about blogging itself and the web. I think a lot of us are having similar experiences - getting on these online things and then trying to figure it out as we go along. I've had similar thougths and questions about why I feel compelled, for exmaple, to keep an online journal with a friends list. At first I was hoping that I could get some of my friends to go online with me, tht we could keep in touch with each other through the blog. And it has worked with one friend. But other friends are not really taking to it. Yet I have kept blogging even if it has not turned out to be what I thought it would be. Blogs are conversations with others - they can be - but also conversations with oursleves.
Oh - and I've also been surprised that blogger doesn't have the word blog in its spell checker.
¡Saudos!
